Obituary for Charlene Helen Alguire (Quail)

Charlene Alguire (nee Quail)
1949-2023

It is with heavy hearts as our family announces that Charlene Alguire (Quail) passed away peacefully and suddenly at her home on the evening of January 3rd at the age of 73. She was the daughter of late Charles and Janet (Bonner) Quail from St. Andrews and sister of Garrett Quail. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Rick Alguire, her three children Stephen Alguire (daughter Sydney who resides in Australia, Sydney’s mother Sarah Atkinson who was like a daughter in law), Stephanie Charbonneau (husband Stephane and daughter Isabella and son Isaac), Gregory Alguire (wife Melissa, nee Bolton). She will be missed dearly by her special sisters (rummoli partners) and brother in laws, Myrna Quail, Jennifer (Jay) Buhr, Anne Marie (Steve) Sanders, and Carrie (David) McLeod. She will also be forever cherished and remembered by many of her extended family, brother-in-law David Alguire (wife Susan), sister-in-law Audrey Amell, brother-in-law Barry Alguire (his wife Kerry), many cousins that she adored and 23 nieces and nephews and her 36 grand-nieces and nephews on both the Quail and Alguire side of the family who meant the world to her. The Morning Glories group will forever have a special place for her in their hearts.

Charlene was the most classy, loving and thoughtful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sibling and aunt a family could ask for. She was a proud resident of St. Andrew’s during her younger years. She was a dedicated and hard-working teacher at the Adult Alternative School, Sacred Heart, St. Columban’s East and Bishop Macdonell School. As a woman of faith, she helped others every moment she could by volunteering in our community, dedicating countless hours at Blessed Sacrament parish by organizing prayer groups, church suppers, driving people to and from mass, delivering communion, bringing people meals and many other thoughtful gestures.

Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario on Sunday January 15, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. As well as 9 am to 10 am on Monday January 16th, 2023, followed by a mass held at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 321 Tollgate Rd E, Cornwall, ON at 11:00 am.

There are no words that can express how grateful Charlene’s family is to everyone who have sent food, flowers, who have extended their heartfelt sympathies and who have taken the time to share sweet messages or their favourite stories about Charlene. Charlene’s family would ask that, in her honor you write a letter or card to someone that you have been putting off or do an unexpected or random act of kindness, just as she did most days of her life.
