It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Edna of Cornwall on Thursday, April 27th, 2023, mere days shy of her 107th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Royal Joseph Leonard Dorey, and loving mother to Charles (late Claire), Phillip (Lina), Linda Devaul (Ray), Dorenda, and David (Lise), and doting grandmother of Jo-Ann (Sylvain Cyr), Jacques (Maris MacDonald), Victor (Marie Leeder), Kristine Devaul (Kevin Hawkins), Karen Denisevich (Dimitri), Gregory Devaul (late Chanthee Wonnuvong), Mélanie Dorey (Chris Leizert), Brigitte Mitchell (Sean), and Nathaniel (Chelsea Prieur). She was also great-grandmother of 15 and great-great grandmother of 2.
Dear sister of Meryl Leslie (Fred), and aunt and great aunt to many. Predeceased by her parents George and Ethel Rivers (née Durey) and Arthur Vine (stepfather), and her siblings Ann, Eunice, Gladys Riddell, Harold (Hilda), Ruth Eamon (Howard), Edgar (Marie), and Victor, and her infant daughter Ann.
She was our daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, and aunt. She doted on all children whose lives were fortunate enough to be touched by her special gift of caring.
A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful, kind, and compassionate staff at Glen Stor Dun Lodge, who had the fortunate opportunity of hosting her residency for the last six weeks of her long life.
Visitation will take place at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall ON, Friday May 12, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Anglican Church, 105 Second Street West, Cornwall with an informal visitation opportunity commencing at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Cornwall.
