Obituary for Evelyn "Stubby" Malcolm (Stubbs)

Evelyn Gertrude (Stubby) Malcolm
February 17, 1927 – February 23, 2021

Evelyn Gertrude Stubbs was born on February 17, 1927 in Montreal, Quebec. She died peacefully on February 23, 2021 at Glen Stor Dun Lodge in Cornwall, Ontario. Evelyn is survived by her four children, Sylvia, John, David and Heather as well as 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her only sister and brother and has two nieces and a nephew living in Vermont.
Evelyn studied nursing at the Montreal General Hospital, graduating as a Registered Nurse, circa 1953. After graduation, Evelyn nursed in London, England, where she was honored to receive an official invitation to tea at Buckingham Palace, with Queen Elizabeth II. In the 1960’s and 70’s she helped her husband, Dick, realize his childhood dream of building a log cabin beside a small lake in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Widowed in 1992, she lived the latter part of her life in retirement homes and finally at Glen Stor Dun Lodge, where she received exceptional and compassionate care, for which her family will always be grateful.
Evelyn had a strong Christian faith, enjoyed nature and was an avid (if somewhat untidy) collector of a curious array of objects, including bells, buttons, owls, butterflies and postcards of lighthouses and covered bridges.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions on funeral and bereavement gatherings, there will be no service for Evelyn at this time. Evelyn will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
