TURNER, Gail - We are saddened by the death of Gail Leda Turner (née Saumure) who passed away on March 29, 2021 at the Cornwall Community Hospital at the age of 77 years. Beloved wife of Peter Turner. Cherished mother of Natalie (Christine Martel) Strangelove and Ian (Tracey) Turner from Edmonton. She will be missed by her brothers Ronald (Linda) Saumure and Brian (Jill-Ann) Saumure and sister-in-law Eileen (David) Saumure, sisters-in-law Alison (Robert) Juneau, Adele (Richard) Setten, Mary (Ernie) Mitro and Jackie (Brian) Beahen. Gail was predeceased by her parents Francis (Fran) and Victor Saumure, her brothers Michael Saumure and David Saumure, and her mother-in-law Eleanor (MacDonald) Turner, her brothers-in-law Robert Juneau, Richard Setten, Brian Beahen and Ernie Mitro. She will be sadly missed by her grandsons Zachary and Owen (Bev LeFurgey) Turner from Victoria, BC as well as several nieces, nephews, family and friends all over Canada and the US. Gail was born and brought up in Ottawa, lived and worked in the Ottawa area, then spent her early retirement in Toledo & Smiths Falls, Ontario and Sebring, Florida. Gail recently lived in Cornwall, Ontario with Peter and their dog Cooper. Gail was an avid walker, golfer and gardener. She was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Cornwall. Gail spent her life in love and faith with her family and friends, and will be missed by all.

Gail’s family wants to extend deep gratitude to the staff of the Cornwall Community Hospital in Cornwall, Ontario. They showed considerable compassion and humanity when caring for our wife/mother. The professionalism and dedication of all the staff, especially during these difficult times, cannot be understated. They deserve all our thanks!

Arrangements are in the care of Wilson Funeral Directors in Cornwall. A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on April 9th, 2021 at 11am. For those who wish to watch a recording of the service follow the link:

We were so very sad to hear about Gail. We will always remember the great times at Francis 2, especially playing shuffleboard. Sending many prayers and our very deepest sympathy to all of you.

My deepest sympathy to Peter and the family in the passing of Gail. I remember playing with her when she was a member of the
Smiths Falls Golf Club. It was always a pleasure to see and her friendly smile and pleasant laughter.
