Obituary for James Albert Currier

CURRIER, James (Jim) Albert
1946 - 2022

It is with profound sadness that the family of James Currier announce his peaceful passing on June 30 at the age of 75 years after a long battle with cancer.
Jim was a Domtar employee for over 35 years, where he worked on the #2 coater, and later as an oiler in the Kraft Mill. He was a long-time fan of the Montreal Canadiens, a life-long reader of crime and mystery novels, and a connoisseur of puzzles of all kinds. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially biking along the St. Lawrence River in the summer time and snowshoeing in the winter. He will always be remembered for his incredible generosity towards his children, his enthusiasm for his grandchildren, and his dedication to making backyard camping trips memorable and comfortable for everyone.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his children Steven (Hope) and Christopher; grandchildren Emmett and Laura; siblings Duane (Annabelle), Francis (Liz), Marilyn Matte (Pierre); beloved companion Donalda Shane; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years, Gisèle (nee Tessier); parents Fred and Mary Currier (nee Morin); and sisters Irma McCrae (William), Christina Lapierre (George), and Harriet Currier.
As per Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt St., Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888).
A graveside service will be held on July 8 at 11am at Notre Dame cemetery, 17945 South Branch Rd, South Stormont, ON, K6H 0C8 followed by a luncheon at Jim’s home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to Hospice Cornwall, 1507 Second St. W., Cornwall, ON, K6J 1J5.
