Obituary for Melinda Maloney

Melinda Maloney
February 10, 1929 - January 1, 2021

MALONEY, Melinda (née Bonneville) - Melinda Rita Maloney was embraced by her Lord Jesus for her perpetual life in heaven on January 1st, 2021 at the age of 91 years. Melinda was the beloved wife of Ellery for 68 years, and loving mother of Debi (Brian) Brodie, Julie (Lou) Baccin, and Shawn (Pam) Maloney. She was wholeheartedly adored by grandchildren Jordan (Krystyne), Adam, Noah, Carolyn Baccin, and Bradley and Christopher Maloney. Melinda was blessed with her great grandson, Alexander Baccin, whose eyes and smile never failed to turn on her heart lights. Melinda was predeceased by parents Archie and Lena (née Casserly) Bonneville, sister Vivian (Mort) Braunstein, and brother Frank (Joan) Bonneville. She will be lovingly remembered by sisters Myrtle (late Jack) Sommerville, Vera (George) Brydges, and brother Cecil (Adrienne) Bonneville, and all her nieces and nephews. Cherished friend of Liz and special MiMi to Eddie, whose visits brightened her days.

Beyond her devotion and unconditional love to family, Melinda loved history (member of S.D.G Historical Society) and was Ellery's personal tour guide during their travels through Canada, Europe, and Great Britain. She passionately decorated and planted many flowers, ensuring her home was ready to welcome family and guests. Melinda loved to read, and enjoyed a glass of Chardonnay. Melinda lived with a spirit of volunteerism, dedicating 45 years to the Hotel Dieu Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, being president from 1984-1986. She served on the ladies executive at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club for more than 12 years. Melinda had a love for shopping, and with an adventurous spirit, learned to snow and water ski. Mostly, she was the organizer of "fun", marking each celebration with a game, themed apparel, or a redo of her wedding on the 65th anniversary. Finally, Melinda's love for Ellery guided her through life, insisting that they be together always.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Leigh, Tina Besner, Dr. Peffer, nurses Meagan C., and Kaitlin W. for their compassionate care towards Melinda, and kindly request donations to Hospice Cornwall in lieu of flowers. Spring interment to be determined at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca
