Obituary for Ray Bartnikas

At the Maxville Manor on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Beloved husband and dearest friend of Margaret Bartnikas (nee McLachlan). Dear father of Andrea Stang (Brent), and Thomas Bartnikas (Lisa). Loving Poppa to Benjamin and Connor Bartnikas. Ray was the recipient of numerous awards, but he was shyly proud of having been appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1998 by the then Governor-General Romeo LeBlanc. This was a notable achievement for a man who came to Canada as a young boy after having lived in a Displaced Persons Camp in Europe after the Second World War. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the staff at Maxville Manor: Housekeeping staff, Activities Staff, PSWS, RPNS, and RNS who cared for Ray with such sympathy, love and compassion. We are especially grateful for those staff members who befriended Ray in a special way. “The best portion of a good man’s life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love.” William Wordsworth. Visitation will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt St. Cornwall (613-938-3888) on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Cornwall, on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11 am. Interment St. Finnan’s Parish Cemetery, Alexandria. As expressions of sympathy Memorial Donations to the Maxville Manor Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
