It is with heavy hearts & great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rene Richer of Apple Hill in his 91st year of age at Glengarry Memorial Hospital on Saturday December 24th, 2022. Mourning his death are Noreen (nee O'Farrell ), his loving and cherished wife of 59 years, and sons Michael (Maria Eugenia (Maru) Garcia Campuzano) of Ensenada, Mexico and Robert (Bobby) at home. Elder brother of John Richer (Sylvia) of Apple Hill, Maurice Richer (Joan) of Long Sault, Marguerite Goundry (Bill) of Orleans and Madelaine McClelland (Vern) of Clarence Creek. Rene will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews & friends. Predeceased by his two children, Steven & Diane; his parents Moise & Pauline (nee Hamelin) Richer; and sisters Alice Marleau (late Jean-Paul) and Marie Henry (late Kevin). Rene was a kind & loving husband and father, always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends & neighbours when called upon. With his love of animals, he was a lifelong farmer, first with dairy cattle then cropping the fields. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 2nd, 2023 at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 at St. William Church, Martintown at 11 a.m. Followed by internment in parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Rene's memory are asked to consider either Cystic Fibrosis Canada, the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the charity of your choice.
