Obituary for Therese Marie Grant (Cotnam)

Theresa/Terry Grant (Cotnam)

Our beloved mother, Terry Grant passed away peacefully at the age of 94, on October 19, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, Cornwall.

Theresa, in her home, career and community, never stopped spreading smiles and good humour. Her presence was heart-warming. A humble woman, she nevertheless showed leadership in all of her endeavours. Wife, mother, gramma, sister, friend: Theresa embodied faith, perseverance, support and love. She excelled in her role as secretary in local high schools, and at the Public School Board. She served with joy in her church, at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club, and most especially in her home, gathering our extended family around her in love. Her home was filled with laughter, leaving us all with the happiest of memories. She enriched so many lives. Her exemplary life inspires us to love deeply, serve others and live fully.

Theresa is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Grant, and her husband Cecil Cotnam. She leaves behind her sister Isabelle (Daigle) Andre. She is also predeceased by her parents, Adrien Daigle and Marianne (Larocque), and her siblings, Paulette, Jean-Louis, Roger and Conrad Daigle.

She will be greatly missed by her family, Lorraine Cotnam Fried, and husband John of Pennsylvania; Andy Cotnam and wife Lise (Bissonnette) of British Columbia; Noella Cotnam of Williamstown; Mary Cotnam Bellemare of Cornwall; Adele Cotnam McClure and husband Jim of Oklahoma; the late Steven Grant, Karen Altieri and husband Tony of Cornwall, Dan Grant of Ottawa; Don Grant and wife Cathy, of Ottawa; and Scott Grant and wife Sandra of Ottawa.
Beloved Gramma to Tyson Cotnam, Korey Cotnam, Brent Besner, Melanie Besner, Pierre Bellemare, Valerie Bellemare Lane, Carley McClure Caywood, Rosie McClure, Adam Altieri, Kalyn Altieri Adams, Jennifer Altieri, Jade Grant and Cameron Grant. She was great-gramma to Sage Cotnam, Alban Besner, Rowan Hindsley, Harmony Altieri, Anthony Altieri, Karis Cotnam, Scotia Cotnam, Isabelle Lane, Adrien Lane and Amelia Adams. Her loving heart is remembered by numerous nieces and nephews from all branches of her large family of Cotnams, Grants, and Daigles.

Visitation is at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, on Wednesday, October 26 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm, and on Thursday October 27 from 9am to 10:30am, followed by a funeral mass at St. Therese De Lisieux at 11:00am. Interment at Notre Dame to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Alzheimer’s Society are appreciated.
