Obituary

O’FARRELL, Dan - It is with the deepest of sadness that we share the sudden passing of Dan O’Farrell on February 13th, 2021 at the age of 70. He leaves behind his loving wife Diane (nee Blanchet) and his children Kelly (David), Shannon (Eric) and Patrick (Angel). He was a wonderful grandfather to Maiya, Taryn, Liam, Lily, Ashton and Sophie. Predeceased by his parents Margaret (Arthur) and Patrick “Bob” O’Farrell, he is survived by his sister Jane McClelland (Ron) and brother Michael (Jocelyne).

Our dad will be remembered as the most avid of readers and for his knowledge of just about everything. He found joy in simple moments like watching the birds from the kitchen window, his love of photography, sitting on the swing in the shade and above all, learning something new. He seemed to have every tool you could possibly need and knew how to help us through any difficult situation. He was our go-to person and our family will miss him terribly.

A funeral mass followed by interment at Notre Dame Cemetery will be held in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall. Online condolences may be made at www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca

Dan was in the same Journalism course (2009-2010) at St. Lawrence College that I took. We were the seniors of the class and frequently sat in the cafeteria shaking our heads over the young 'uns. And then we would laugh. I enjoyed his company. He was an interesting fellow student. We shared emails and jokes over the years although we never managed to get together at Tim's. I was so saddened to see his name in the paper. I will miss his eclectic emails. Sincere sympathy to Diane and all of his family. He was so proud of you! He liked to say, proudly, that Diane kept him in his place and organized. Our loss is heaven's gain. ~Lily
