Obituary

Passed away peacefully at the Cornwall General Hospital on Sunday February 28th, 2021. Allan was in his 88th year. Son of the late Leonard and Mary Terrence (nee Maffrice). Loved father of the late Donnie Docksteader of Ingleside, Kelly Terrence (Lee-Ann) of Belleville, Angela Terrence (Frank) of Corbyville and Michael Terrence (Christina) of Belleville. Will be sadly missed by grandchildren David, Michelle and Tristan and great-grandchildren Destiny, Devonte, Dasia and Blayne. Allan was a sixty-year resident of South Lancaster. He enjoyed a lifetime of fishing and boating on the St. Lawrence River. He genuinely engaged in chats with neighbours and friends in the area regularly. His love of music was always apparent, for you would always hear him singing and whistling. In keeping with Allan’s wishes, a private cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Dad was a big man and he lived a big full life. Dads’ wishes were that everyone knew that he would miss everyone.

Goodbye for now Dad… Until we meet again.

Love Kelly, Ang & Mike.

Dear Kelly, Angela and Michel,

I was shocked and sadden to hear of Allan’s untimely passing.
Allan was always the same, enjoying life, doing what he like to do.
One of my fond memories of Allan, - when Allan & Doug went duck hunting.
Everyone met in Lancaster, then went out in their boats on the St Lawrence River,
it was great to see them together laughing and enjoying, while getting everything
ready for the big event. And yes they also had a great time, “Ducks” not sure.

Our Sincere Sympathy,

Margaret Terrence and family
- Timothy, Jo Ann, Corinne, Heather.

I am so sorry to hear of Allan's passing. My late sister Jackie told many stories about how the cousin's would gather at my dad's (Bernard W. Terrence) cottage and in the evening would go out on the row-boat rowing up and down singing their hearts out and when they stopped the folks sitting on the shore would tell them to "keep on singing". I remember many a Terrence family gathering with lots laughter and singing in their good old Irish ways. I can still hear the "The Whiffenpoof Song" with those glorious harmonies. Man could they sing! I can hear them now giving the angels their rendition of "Gallway Bay". May we continue to be comforted by those cherished memories.
Blesssings, Linda Terrence Cooke. (Jackie and Bernie's sister)

Dear Kelly, Angela & Mike:
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I also don't have many memories but what I do remember is the same as my two sisters. Always a big smile, funny and musical.
Thinking of you during this difficult time.
Take care,
Heather Terrence

My Bernie would have stories to tell about his cousin Allan. They can share them now in heaven. I feel the pain of your loss.

Below is a picture I discovered from Bernie's 70'th birthday party which Allan attended.
